Elizabeth Blackwell

Elizabeth Blackwell was an English-American physician who became the first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States and the first to be registered with the General Medical Council in the UK. A pioneer for women in medicine, she founded the New York Infirmary for Women and Children and co-founded the London School of Medicine for Women. Her work championed women's education in medicine and social reform.
